Jeffrey
W. Brown Jeff Brown is responsible for new business and investments for Cox where his responsibilities include structuring joint ventures and product development with other cable operators and technology companies. He formerly served as Vice President and General Counsel for TCA and all subsidiaries, represented TCA with industry groups, and negotiated local franchise agreements; was responsible for representing TCA in the Cox/TCA merger ($4 billion transaction); directed mergers, acquisitions and business ventures totaling over $500 million while with TCA; and negotiated programming contracts, FCC, state and local regulations oversight, and was corporate compliance officer. Previously, he was a private practicing attorney in Houston, serving as outside counsel to TCA and involved in business transaction/mergers & acquisitions. Prior to law school, he served in sales and marketing positions with MCI and Lanier. Jeff received his J.D as a magna cum laude graduate of South Texas College of Law. He received his B.B.A. with honors in accounting and finance from the University of Houston. He represents Cox Communications on a number of boards including Security Broadband Corporation, Sedna Patent Services, MetaTV, and Connecting With Kids, Inc. He also serves on the boards of non-profits Messiah's Ranch Camp and Vision Atlanta. Hans
Gant Hans Gant currently serves the Metro Atlanta Chamber
of Commerce as Senior Vice President of Economic Development. In this
capacity he oversees marketing metro Atlanta around the world as a business
location, promoting international trade and assisting expanding businesses.
The Metro Atlanta Chamber is also focused on the "Industries of the
Mind" initiative, a program focused on recruiting and growing hi-tech
talent and business in the Metro Atlanta area. Hans is also responsible
for promoting Atlanta as a global logistics hub. In 1990, Hans began a five-year position as Senior
Vice President of Economic Development for the Columbus (Georgia) Chamber
of Commerce. In this position his work focused on recruiting industry
and business. Hans has also served as Vice President of real estate development
for the Jordan Company and as the Director of City Planning in Columbus.
There he also served as a member of the Muscogee County School Board.
Robert
C. McIntyre Robert C. McIntyre currently serves as corporate senior vice president and chief technical officer of Scientific-Atlanta. From 1991-1997, McIntyre held leadership roles in Scientific-Atlanta's Transmission and Subscriber businesses, and is well-known as both a business and a technical leader. From 1997-1998, McIntyre served as President, CEO of Avex, Inc., an electronic manufacturing company in Huntsville, Alabama. Prior to joining Scientific-Atlanta, McIntyre was VP/GM of Augat's Interconnection Products Group. Earlier in his career, he was VP/GM of GTE Communication Systems in both their Telephone Switching and Transmission businesses. McIntyre also spent 11 years at General Electric, working in a variety of technical management positions. McIntyre holds a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgy and Materials from Carnegie Mellon University. He has done graduate work at Penn State in Engineering Mechanics, and at Gannon University in Business Administration Training programs. Olivier Laurie Olivier is a partner of Veritas Venture Partners, a veteran VC firm in Israel, and manages its Atlanta office. In his capacity as a general partner of Veritas' latest fund, VVP II, he serves on the boards of an enterprise software company, ClickFox Inc., and a medical device company, CytoDome Inc.. He is a member of various technology related industry forums, and currently serves as vice chairman of the AICC, and chairman of its Telecommunications Committee Laurie has been involved in venture capital since 1990. As Senior Business Development Manager and SVP Private Equity at Anglo American (AA), a leading global mining concern, he represented AA's interests in a number of venture funds, including the AAV fund managed by Veritas. He served on the boards various AAV portfolio companies. He was also a board member of MCPEPA (an East Asian private equity fund) and MCA (a South African VC fund - Chairman of the Investment Committee). At AA, he pioneered the establishment of new technology-driven businesses, and served on the boards of a variety of publicly traded and privately held businesses, including Anglo American Industrial Corporation Ltd and some of its joint venture companies with major East Asian corporations. He currently serves as a technology commercialization advisor to a major government controlled research organization in South Africa and to the University of Pretoria. Laurie was born and raised in South Africa, and holds a B.Engineering (Electronics) from the University of Pretoria, and a B.Com (Hons) and Dip. Datametrics from the University of South Africa. David
P. Reed David Reed is Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for CableLabs. In this position he is responsible for the development of our forward strategy for both technical initiatives and the cable industry. He is also responsible for leading research and development projects addressing telecommunications technology assessment, business, economic, strategic and public policy issues of immediate interest to member companies by leading our Strategic Assessment area. Prior to March, 2004, David was Chief Technical Officer and Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning. David has been at CableLabs since 1994 during which time he has helped launch the highly-successful PacketCable, Go2Broadband, CableHome, Strategic Assessment and Bandwidth Management programs. Before working at CableLabs, Dr. Reed served for three years at the Federal Communications Commission as a Telecommunications Policy Analyst in the Office of Plans and Policy where he worked on video dial tone, personal communications services (PCS), and spectrum auction policies. He is a widely published author in telecommunications journals, books, and magazines. Dr. Reed earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. He also holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University. |
